Choir Camp 2008

Choir Camp 2008, a 3D/2N camp, was held from 30 May to 1 June 2008. This year's theme, "SURVIVOR BANSHENG ISLAND" was inspired by what our conductor, Mr Toh Ban Sheng, told us once. He once said, "If you could survive me (for your secondary school life), you could survive anything (else out there)."

The camp held to build camaraderie between all Dunman Choristers, regardless of seniority. Through the camp, everyone learnt how to get out of their comfort zones and adapt quickly to changes.

Before the camp, everyone had to prepare for their Talentime skit with their groups and despite not knowing each other well enough, everyone managed to work together perfectly.

The first day was filled with games, games, and more games. There were ice-breakers and night activities. Even though other CCAs were having their camps, everyone managed to conform to the limited space available in the school.

During the second day, there were rotational games and Orienteering, which had to be held in school instead of the venues planned around Tampines originally. Despite the change in plans due to the weather, the games were still very fun and everyone was on their feet, aiming to be the best group. After Orienteering, everyone, including the Camp Committee, Emcees, Alumni and teachers were busy in preparation for the Talentime.

For Talentime, each group had to perform a skit based on the theme, "Reality Shows". Every group had a well-delivered performance, albeit there was barely a fortnight to prepare. There were two Emcee performances by the emcees, Paul and Yuhan, and everyone had fun in "Bananas Of The World Unite". At the end of all the performances, the seniors and Alumni performed a series of songs including "When You Believe". At the end of Talentime, prizes were given out.

After Talentime there was a movie marathon in the Music And Dance Studio and everyone enjoyed watching "The Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen" and "Simpsons The Movie". Everyone enjoyed a bit of freedom at night, being able to choose whether to go for the movie marathon, sleep or play with their friends.

The next day, everyone had area-cleaning after breakfast to encourage responsibility. Everyone then went home, exhausted, but feeling that it was worth being tired because everyone had brought back with them valuable lessons learnt from the camp.
